Test results tree with subtree reload
A release-qualification board as a tree: test environments hold reported issues and test plans, plans hold runs, runs hold their Failed, Passed and Skipped results. The reload icon on an environment, plan or run re-reads that subtree only and splices it back in place, so open nodes stay open; the lab keeps reporting results in the background and a running run shows them after a reload. Rerun, Add result, Add issue and bulk Approve or Reject go through the same server, logged under the grid.
A live, editable Svelte 5 data grid example from the SvGrid gallery (Tree & Hierarchy). See the SvGrid documentation for the full API.
About this example
A release-qualification board in a Svelte 5 tree grid: test environments hold their reported issues and test plans, plans hold runs, and runs hold Failed, Passed and Skipped results. The reload icon on an environment, plan or run asks the server for that subtree only and splices it back into the flat rows, so every open node stays open. The in-memory server keeps reporting results for running runs, and the grid shows them after a reload.
A release-qualification board for a kernel candidate. Each test environment (architecture + machine) holds its reported issues and its test plans; a plan holds its runs, and a run its results split into Failed, Passed and Skipped.
The grid's own treeData builds the hierarchy from flat rows whose ids are paths (env:amd64-precision-3680/plans/automated/runs/2). The reload icon on an environment, plan or run row asks the server for that subtree only and splices the answer back into the flat array in place. getRowId keeps the ids stable, so the controlled expanded map leaves every open node open across the reload.
The server here is in memory and does not wait for you: a running run reports a result every couple of seconds, and the grid sees it only when that run, or a node above it, is reloaded. Rerun queues a new run, Add result posts a manual result, Add records an environment issue, and the environment checkboxes approve or reject in bulk. Every request is in the log under the grid.

Frequently asked questions
How does reloading one subtree keep the rest of the tree open?
Each row's id is its path, set through getRowId, and expansion is a controlled expanded map keyed by those ids. A reload replaces the node and its descendants in the flat data array with what the server returned; ids that survive keep their entry in the map, so the grid redraws them open.
Why are the ids paths like env:arm64-rpi5-8gb/plans/automated/runs/1?
A path makes the subtree test a string prefix check, so the demo finds the rows to replace without walking parent links, and the API URL for a node falls out of its id. Any stable unique id works if you keep a parent lookup instead.
Does this need the Enterprise server row model?
No. It is the free grid's treeData prop over a plain array you own. The server row model in @svgrid/enterprise is the fit when a level is too large to load whole and has to arrive in blocks.

</style>More Tree & Hierarchy examples
- Org chart tree - 5-level employee hierarchy with role pills, department, headcount roll-up. Expand/collapse, expand-all/collapse-all.
- Project WBS tree - Phase → task → subtask with % complete that rolls up via effort-weighted average when you edit any leaf.
- Bill of Materials - Bicycle BOM, 4 levels deep. Edit any leaf part's qty or unit cost; subtotals roll up through the assembly chain to the grand total.
- Lazy tree (load on expand) - Region → Country → State → City. Children fetched async on first expand with a "Loading…" placeholder row; subtrees cached on second expand.
- Tree + master/detail - Hierarchical file-system rows and an order/line-item master-detail view.
